To all the human beings who love the truth

To all the human beings who love the truth, who don’t accept to be treated like slaves anymore and who want a better world for their children. To you and to me, I decided to narrate how the corrupted system I lived in works. It’s a system that devours our lives, and we have to act so that one day it will cease to exist.

I was born in Bulgaria in 1971 under a totalitarian regime. I was abandoned by my father when I was 17 and I was abused by my mother. In 1990, only 3 months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, I arrived in Italy. I had 20 dollars in my pocket and many dreams to fulfill. To me Italy meant liberty. I thought that I could fulfill my dreams by talent and by hard work but I was wrong. Soon enough they made me understand that I had to accept many compromises if I wanted to reach any success in the world of the entertainment.There are only three ways to enter the world of the entertainment: to be a relative or a friend of somebody, to bribe or to prostitute. I was not a friend or a relative of anybody and I didn’t have money.  I was 18 and I had passion for Cinema. I decided to sell myself. Because this system works like this: you compromise yourself, you become one of them and then you have it all. It is never convenient to get out of this system.

I went to Santoro and I made a denunciation against a man like Berlusconi who intervened in the decisions of the public institutions for his private interests. I testified this and until today nobody made an investigation of what I testified. Newspapers are still talking about Berlusconi who is arguing with Alfano, his fiancée who’s playing with the little dog, the green beans, the mobile messages… The public opinion is distracted from the real problems. I have never been sentenced and I have never been through a criminal prosecution, and yet everyone is talking against me.  But let’s ask ourselves one thing: Is the problem in the one who denounces this system or in the one who is a part of it?  Is the problem in a person like me who is ready to risk today and say how things are or is it in the one who corrupts?

Who is the problem? The one like me, who is ready today and is here to risk and say what is happening, the way things are, or the one who corrupts? It is not the people who denounce like me, the once who are supposed to be massacred. Massacre the one who corrupts! And you know very well who that is… My testimony is just a confirmation of what everyone already knows. But we should move on! We shouldn’t stop! Let’s ask why such investigations are not made, let’s ask why the newspapers keep on talking about futile things!

Silvio Berlusconi interfered in the company Rai to make it purchase the television copyrights of my film “Goodbye Mama” for the Italian market, when he was a Prime Minister. He called the minister of the culture Sandro Bondi to make an award for me when he was a Prime Minister. And then when I asked him to produce a fiction with Mediaset, “Donne in Gioco” (“Women in game”), because I didn’t have other possibilities to work after the “greeting” scandal in Venice, he called Del Noce in Rai! And he was still a Prime Minister! Why no journalist made an investigation after my denunciation in Servizio Pubblico? The persons I cited: Berlusconi, Masi, Bergamini, Carfagna, Giro, Galan: why none of them denied what I denounced?

When they think that somebody else pays me to talk…  I only want to say that I don’t have a color, I don’t depend on anyone, I don’t belong to any group, nor a political party. I am here, alone, today to fight against an army of servants who are paid by the power, who want to discredit me at all costs.These same people used to tell me I was “very good” and “talented” years ago. Why are they saying different things now? I decided to talk at my risk with the few resources I have left, standing with my face. Because there is no sense in living for me if I don’t say the truth. Some think that I talk because I didn’t obtain something. That I’ve been promised something that I didn’t receive afterwards. I would only say thatif you stay in this system, you will always have what you want. And when you get out of the system you won’t have anything! While inside, you will always find a “benefactor” who wants to help a beautiful girl.

All that I have done, I’ve done it for my passion which is Cinema but when I understood that I was losing myself for this passion, I decided to talk. I decided to say the truth because no passion is worth our lives. To everyone who still believes in this system, who believes that this is the only possible way of living, I want to say that it isn’t so! This corruptive system is not as strong as it seems to be and I am the demonstration of it. I am here, today. I got out. Today I don’t have a job, I rent an apartment: I sold my apartment so that I could live, so that I could be here with you and talk. I don’t have anything of what the society calls “security”, but I have myself. I have my dignity again.
